COLLABORATION OVER COMPETITION

Five organizations, one shared root system

sword fern collective, Ritmos Climáticos, DreamStill, Solastalgia, and The Sustainable Act each bring years of climate action and arts & culture advocacy to Vancouver. The climate crisis demands urgent, imaginative action — so we formalized our long-standing collaborations into a coalition that pools capacity, shares resources, and makes space for more youth-led climate organizations to grow.

WHY WE EXIST

From burnout & competition to collective care

Youth climate organizers struggle with capacity and competitive application processes. The result is duplicated work, burnout, high turnover, and a culture of competition — at the exact moment our communities need us most.

Many coalitions fizzle out for lack of dedicated funding. We're building ours to last: pooling capacity, sharing resources, and meeting the interest in our work that already exceeds what any of us can carry alone.

-> Replace competition with collaboration

-> Reduce burnout and turnover

-> Build a durable, well-funded coalition

-> Open a pathway for new youth-led orgs

GUIDING VALUES

What holds us together

The principles we return to as we organize, partner, and dream.

01

Interconnected & intersectional

Climate change and its injustices grow from colonial, patriarchal, and extractive relationships with the biosphere and the more-than-human. We work to break down and rebuild those relationships into ones that serve our shared future.

02

Accountability & integrity

The best partnerships happen when partners are accountable to themselves and the collective — diligently doing the work, transparent about capacity, and building trust throughout the coalition.

03

Care, courage & grace

We lovingly care for one another and our communities. We're courageous in our vulnerability and in addressing conflict early, and we give each other grace to slow down and protect our relationships and labour.

04

Creativity

This moment demands great imagination. We don't default to comfortable or status-quo solutions — we tap into our creative selves and networks to generate the visionary world our future hinges on.

OUR FOCUS

Where our energy goes

Our intersectional, lived experiences — as 2SLGBTQIA+, Francophone, newcomer, neurodivergent, and racialized youth — shape how we frame our work.

Climate education

Tools, dialogue, and learning that make climate justice accessible to everyone.

Arts & culture

Zines, music, media, and design that move hearts as well as minds.

Community engagement

Gatherings, festivals, and events that build solidarity and joy.

Justice & decolonization

Designing our work in awareness of colonial harms, in care for our communities.

Our Past Events

Reclaiming Streets for Climate Futures - August 3rd 2025

In summer 2025, CCC hosted Reclaiming Streets for Climate Futures, a creative climate action hub in the
Water Street Pedestrian Zone that combined interactive art, participatory workshops, performances,
and educational displays to spark dialogue about climate justice, sustainability, and creative activism.

The activation reclaimed urban space not just for pedestrian use but as a site of collective imagination,
connecting residents and visitors with each other, with local youth organizations, and with visions for a just climate future.

Granville Park Climate Block Party - July 12th 2026

This past summer, the Climate Block Party brought Vancouver residents together with climate organizations,
local elected officials, and community partners for a free, family-friendly, non-partisan day of music, art,
interactive activities, and civic engagement. The event was co-hosted by
My Climate Plan, sword fern collective, Ritmos Climáticos, and The Starfish Canada.

Our aim was to show that climate action can be fun and creative —
and to encourage people to engage with civic issues in the lead-up to Metro Vancouver's municipal elections.
